Pumpkins Galore

There's lots of fall fun to be had when you're two years old! First up-- the pumpkin patch!

We made our second annual trek up to Kinsey Family Farms with our friends Walter and Denise (the Winiarski's were out of town), and spent hours chasing Max while he ran with his arms overhead shouting, "Pun-kiiiiinnnnn!!!!" and hugged, kissed, and tried to pick-up every pumpkin we saw. It's hard to believe he wasn't even walking when we visited last year!

Abby and Max in the wagon!

"Uuuuhhh! So heavy!"

Best buddies...

Our little snake handler! (a.k.a. Max holding a "snake gourd")

Here's two Hooligan's for $3 a piece! (Check out the sign under Max's hand!)

Sad to be "ugly mugly's"....

Family farm fun!

Wheee! Max loves it when Daddy sends him "to the moon"! (photo taken mid-baby toss)

Checking out the giant tires on the tractor after the hayride!

"Roarrrrr!!!"

Pumpkin Painting

We aren't ready to carve a pumpkin with Max just yet (since he'd mostly be waiting around for us to cut it at this age), so we decided to go the painted route again! Ben taped off a face (like a stencil) and Max chose to paint it blue.

The artist is ready!

Max employed a variety of painting techniques (he's very sophisticated and artsy like that).

Brush...

Hands...

And, of course, feet.

The masterpiece is finished!!

"Mom, are you done taking my picture yet?"

Happy Halloween from the Lilly's!

Life Lately...

Our family hike got rained on, so we decided to stay out and play in the driveway for a bit since we were already soaked!

Daddy builds a complex Duplo block structure while Max "reads" the directions....hmm....

We visited the scarecrows in the garden at the library! Max wasn't quite sure what to think. :-)

Storytime at the library! Max got to meet Ms. Lorraine's sheep after it was over! He loved the "on the farm" theme. (Max is in the black and white striped shirt... and has his hand in the sheep's mouth. Ha!)

Gobble! Gobble! Our little turkey tries on a hat in the Dollar Spot at Target.

After going through three outfits before 4:00pm, Mommy decided a diaper was sufficient clothing for playing with the Duplo blocks.  :-)

Star Wars Day at the library!

Posing at the "indoor pumpkin patch" at school! Max get excited and acts like it's the first time he's seen the "pumpkin patch" every morning when we arrive. haha

In the past month or so we've started letting Max watch a 20 minute television program every once and a while. It's a sure-fire way to get some snuggles on the couch with our wiggly guy! One day I was getting the show pulled up, and turned around to find Max already relaxing on the couch. He's so funny!  (If you're interested, he watches a PBS show called "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" which is produced by the same folks who did "Mr. Rogers"! Fun! http://pbskids.org/daniel/)

Hey look! It's Mom and Dad.  :-)

If you can't tell, Max is shouting, "Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!" in this photo! haha

So, do you think Max liked the bubble machine after storytime at the library this week?

Man on a mission at the playground! Max must have crawled through this tunnel 50 times.

A little squinty from the bright sun, but he kept asking for me to put him on the, "Mo-tah Cyyyyycle!"

Running!!!!

Max Says...

Max was staring blankly out the kitchen window.

Mommy: What are you looking at?

Max: I see God.

Mommy: What is God doing?

Max: God sitting on the potty.

Mommy: Oh, really?

Max: Yeah. He flushed the toilet and pulled up his pants.

------------------------------------------------

Max likes to see the leaves and branches blow in the wind. It stopped and he asked me to make the wind blow again. I told him that only God can decide when the wind will blow.

Max: Very excitedly Mommy LOOK! The wind! God turned on the wind!!

Max Says...

One rainy day there was a beetle on the window. Max and I were observing and discussing the beetle for a while, and when we went back to look later on the beetle had left.

Max: Beetle all gone?

Mom: Yes, it looks like he went away.

Max: Beetle eating?

Mom: He might have gone to find something to eat. What do beetles eat?

Max: (without hesitation) Kix and eggs.

A Weekend Hike

We love that our neighborhood is connected to the Chattahoochee National Forest. A Sunday afternoon hike is quite literally just down the street!

First up-- a stop at the trout hatchery near the trail entrance! Max loved seeing all the "goldfish" swimming and jumping out of the water.

Max hiked on his own an impressively long way! We carried him a few times to get up steep hills and such, but he walked most of the way in.

Examining nature!

Excited to have found a rock to carry!

Ben took a panoramic photo of an area by the Chattahoochee River where we stopped for a water and snack break. Someone had set-up two chairs and little table out in the woods!

Since we were getting close to dinnertime, Max rode on my back all the way home. Ben clipped his iPhone to his chest and took this cool hyperlapse video of the trek back out to the road! It "whites out" a few times because the sun was bright, but overall a pretty cool app!

That evening Max was worn out! He ate TONS of food and fell asleep almost immediately after I laid him in the crib (I went to check on him later and he hadn't even rolled over!). We're so glad to have a nature-loving boy!

Max Says.... (and videos!)

We were out for a walk and came upon a section of sidewalk with TONS of dead, dried up worms.

Max: Watch out worms! It's okay! It's alright! Look out! Proceeds to tip toe around all the worms.

---------------------------------

While I was washing dishes and Ben was sweeping the floor after a particularly messy dinner, we had Max sit on a chair and asked him to sing us some songs.

Max: Jesus loves me this I knoooooow... Bible tells me SOOOO! Little ones Him belooong... I LOVE YOU MOMMY-DADDY!!!!!

-------------------------------

I caught this one on film! When we play outside in the morning and hear birds chirping (or dogs barking, etc.) I always tell him the birds are saying, "Good morning, Max!" The following occurred with zero prompting!
