Big Boy Bed!

It's the beginning of a new era at the Lilly household tonight... Max is sleeping in a big boy bed! About a week ago we introduced a pillow and the blanket we were planning to use in the bed to help Max prepare for the transition. We talked it up all week, and while Max was at daycare, Ben converted the crib to a toddler bed!

Max's reaction to the bed was so cute... he was really excited!

"Cheeeeese!"

After he "practiced sleeping" in his bed, he wanted to read books in bed!

When it came time to actually go to bed for the night, he was fine until the moment came to actually get in the bed and have Mommy and Daddy leave. No crying or anything, just got a little anxious for a moment. After an extra song and extra kisses he was all set! Hopefully he'll make it through the night okay. :-)  If he rolls out, he doesn't have too far to fall, but we put a pillow on the floor just in case.

(Photos below are staged. haha)

If you'll excuse me, I'm off to longingly scroll through baby photos... somehow the tiny baby who slept in the pack 'n play in our room, like, two weeks ago is now walking, talking (with three syllable words!!), eats everything in sight, wears underwear 24 hours a day, and sleeps in a real bed. Not really sure what happened there... at least he's a "Mama's Boy" and loves giving hugs and snuggles, right? :-)

Life Lately

Celebrating Mommy's birthday a little early at Grammie's house! Max is like, "Stop picking the candle wax off the cake, Mom. I want to EAT IT!!"

Sunday afternoon hike! First time wearing a t-shirt this year. It was so cute to see his little arms out after being covered by long sleeves all winter!

Out for a walk with Grammie!

Driving all the "tractors" at Lowes.

Our little lucky charm all dressed up for St. Patrick's Day! A leprechaun visited his classroom while they were taking naps! He left glitter and green footprints everywhere, and caused mischief by turning the water in the potty's green and toppling over some chairs! It was very exciting.

In other news, Max had his 2.5 year old pediatrician appointment last week. Dr. Morris said everything looked great, and it seems that turning in to a good eater resulted in a growth spurt. Max grew three inches and gained four pounds in the last six months! I thought his pants were looking a little short. ;-)  He is 35 inches tall, weighs 27 pounds, and his brain bucket clocked in at 19 inches. Big boy!

Our neighbors have a big trampoline and the girls were doing big jumps and flips (they do competitive cheerleading and gymnastics). Max loved watching them and ran in the living room to do his own flip!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!

In celebration of Dr. Seuss' birthday, Max's school had a Spirit Week! Max LOVED participating (it's the first year he's really "gotten" the concept of Spirit Week). I think he might be a little disappointed when he just wears normal clothes all week next week. :-)

Monday: Crazy Clothes Day!

Tuesday: Pajama Day!

Wednesday: Silly Socks Day!

Thursday: Crazy Hair Day! (Max's teachers commented that we should do his hair like this every day. haha)

Max didn't go in on Friday, but it was "Dress like your favorite Dr. Seuss character day".

Life Lately

With more than just wet slush on the ground (and a pair of mittens), Max enjoyed the snow at Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house!

Curled up reading library books on a cold and rainy day.

We had a lot of branches come down with the recent ice storm. It turns out that two year olds are genuinely helpful when it comes to collecting sticks! Here's Max with our front yard pile....

.... and helping drag the branches to the woods.

I'm in the process of turning one side of my office in to a play area for Max. It's still "in progress", but it's starting to come together and Max really enjoys having his own space!

One day I let Max play with my iPhone while I got a work email out. I had a pretty good laugh later on when I found this photo and realized he'd figured out how to take a "selfie"! haha

Max had on a shirt that was slightly too big and figured out how to take it off. He thought it was hysterical to take it off and run around. I gave up trying to keep it on him.  :-)

Twice a year I participate in kids consignment sales where I can sell Max's old stuff and buy new clothes inexpensively. The day after I always have Max try on all his new stuff and we have a little fashion show.

Here he is ready for the beach!

Excited to have a zip-up hoodie sweatshirt (with pockets!) like Daddy.
