Max learned how to do "looming" at school and he's really enjoyed it! Max made a few squares, a friend gave him a square, Grammie and Mom have each made a square and we've attached them altogether. We just need to pick up some more yarn so Max can keep going! He wants to make a full blanket.
Max had a day off school, so Ben and I took the day off work and we headed to the mountains for a little hiking!

Earlier in the month Max went to Dahlonega with John and Lisa to pan for gold! They had a blast.

One evening Ben went to a GA Tech football game with Granddaddy so Max and I had a fun night in! We did takeout cheeseburgers (Max's request), and ate on a picnic blanket in the living room while watching "The Magic Schoolbus" on television. We also visited the library and had some good chats!
Max was invited to a surprise party for his best friend from summer camp, Michael (curly haired kid in the middle). We didn't know anyone other than Michael, but they ended up having fun. The boys were SO excited to see each other!
Our church presents a Bible to second graders, so this was Max's year! Usually the kids all sit together and get to walk across the stage and shake the pastor's hand, but due to COVID they all sat with their families and just went to pick it up when their name was called.

(For anyone who might be concerned -- we all had masks on at church except for a few moments of taking pictures. In the worship center / sanctuary, the only have every other row of chairs and there are three empty chairs on the row between each family. When the kids are dismissed, they go to a room where the chairs are spaced out six feet apart in all directions, and they do temperature checks, hand sanitizer, and required masks for all kids and leaders.)

Our neighborhood does "Boo-ing" which is a really fun tradition (this was our first year participating). Families get the name of another family and you secretly drop off a basket of Halloween goodies, ring the doorbell, and run! You never know who "boo-ed" you and the person you "boo" never knows who you are. Our "boo" was delivered after Max was asleep, unfortunately, so he missed the running to the door part of the surprise. He'd been really excited to hear the doorbell ring, so the next morning we were sneaky and re-did the knocking the front door while he was upstairs. Later he said, "I can't believe they came so early!" Haha (Shh....!)

Pumpkin carving! We had fun carving and toasting the seeds. Unfortunately, our jack-o-lanterns only lasted about a week before they rotted. Max was a good sport about it!

Max wanted a special Halloween breakfast, so I put orange food coloring in milk, and made scrambled eggs, Dutch baby, and cinnamon apples. He was much more excited than he looks in this photo. :-)
Costume #1! Darth Vadar Hot Dog. We trick or treated with Walter and Denise as we do every year. Only one or two families had kids come to the door, the rest didn't participate at all or just put a bowl of candy out on the porch or driveway. We were worried Max would be disappointed, but he said he had a lot of fun! Since fewer kids were out, I think he ended up with more candy than usual, too.

Costume #2 - Ninja! (We put glow sticks on him and make him stay close by on the sidewalks since he was basically invisible in the dark.)
