Turning Two!

Max had a fun day turning two years old! We started with a special cinnamon roll breakfast, TWO birthday candles, and a rousing rendition of the "Happy Birthday" song.

First time eating a cinnamon roll! It's pretty safe to say he loved it.

When we got to school there was a birthday sign on the door! Max was a bit confused why we stood in the hallway for a moment instead of just going in like usual (Mommy has to document everything! haha).

Hugs from his pal Zoey! (BFFs since they did tummy time as three month old babies in the Infant Room at Crabapple!).

Hugs from silly Abby!

Mid-afternoon, Ben and I headed over to bring a special birthday treat for Max and his friends! Max hadn't woken up by the end of nap time (he takes crazy long naps at daycare!). His teacher, Ms. Courtney, flipped on the lights and his buddy Edward apparently wanted Max to get up right away!

Here is the Early Preschool Class! Left to right: Ms. Courtney, Zoey, Edward, Abby, Vedita, Max, and Dylan. Their friend Ethan was out sick that day.

Ms. Courtney was so sweet and made Max a "Birthday Boy" crown, and decorated the table for his little party! We were blown away by her thoughtfulness, and confirmed yet again why we love Crabapple so much. Everyone truly loves the kids!

This photo was taken during the 30 second span Max actually wore his crown. :-)  Also worth noting, Max pounded his mini-cupcake in about two bites, hence the chocolate all over his face in this photo.

After the party, we went to the playground which was fun until Max's "sugar high" from the day kicked in and he had a raging temper tantrum. Once we got home and calmed down, we played for a bit and decided to go out for Mexican to celebrate Max's birthday. It wasn't exactly a "smooth" dining experience, unfortunately, so we ate quickly and headed home to return phone calls from grandparents then it was off to the bath and bed. Needless to say, he crashed pretty hard. :-)   Life is exhausting when you're two and have way too much sugar and excitement in your little body!

Sad Jesus

Max was "reading" his little Bible and came across a page where he thought Jesus looked sad... apparently he's not a fan of "Sad Jesus". haha

A new variation on the ABC's (ignore the fact that he's reading about and looking at numbers!)

Nekkid

Max found a mud puddle to splash in near Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house last weekend. We got out the hose to rinse mud off his legs and feet when we got back, and in the process Max lost his balance and fell in to the water. Of course, the next "natural" step was to strip him down for some good old fashioned "nekkid" fun with the hose!

After a bath and jammies, it was time to snuggle with Kirby.  :-)

... and this picture is cute. haha

Touch a Truck!

Last weekend we had an opportunity to visit a "Touch a Truck" event at a local park! Max (and lots of other toddlers!) were crazy excited to see so many big trucks up close. It's hard to catch Max smiling on camera, but we assure you there was lots of clapping, "Whoa! Big truck!" exclamations, and "More truck?" inquiries throughout the morning. Here are some photos from our big adventure!

Max got to visit the "Tumble Bus"... a school bus that has been gutted and outfitted with fun things like a trampoline, slide, and ball pit!

Driving a small bus!

Excited to see a cement mixer, just like in his book!

Checking out the souped up racing truck...

...and driving it. Vroom! Vroom!

Max got to blow the big horn on a semi truck! (This seemed to be a favorite of many kids... it was blasting All. Morning. Long.)

Visiting the blue garbage truck up close was, quite literally, a dream come true for Mr. Max. Some mornings we ask him what he dreamed about the night before and he often replies, "Garbage trucks." When we ask what color the garbage trucks were his response is always, "Blue!".

Firefighter Max to the rescue!

Hopefully the first and last time he'll be sweaty and red-faced in the backseat of a police car....

Checking out all the buttons and trying to turn on the lights and siren!

This is the inside of a S.W.A.T. Team truck. I think we were all disappointed that is wasn't more exciting (however, it was air conditioned which as you can see from Max's beet red face and sweaty hair was sort of exciting. haha).

Max loved "riding" the motorcycle and thought it was pretty cool that the police officer manning this station was wearing boots.

Special delivery in the back of the UPS truck!

Anxious to take a turn driving the big UPS delivery truck!

Max is ready to take to the streets as a paramedic on bicycle! He was disappointed that he couldn't carry the backpack around and go through all the pockets.

One last visit to the blue garbage truck!

A morning of touching trucks will wear a little guy out! We were cracking up at Max's sassy sleeping pose in the car seat.
