The weekend prior to Thanksgiving we headed up to Hiawassee for the Lilly Family celebration. Max had fun playing with his cousins, grandparents, Aunt Lisa and Uncle John, and the doggies.
Now that he's a bit sturdier they are able to play a little bit! Max loved going after unsuspecting wagging tails, and holding his hand out to try and get licked. Silly boy!
On Thanksgiving Day all the Teal's and Heinlein's joined us for fun and turkey-lurkey. Max enjoyed showing off his new walking around skills, giving hugs, and playing with the felt board Christmas tree that Grammie made.
After Max went to bed the day after Thanksgiving, Ben and I had a wonderful time putting up all our Christmas decorations while watching "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas". We decided it's a fun tradition as we did this last year, too! As we hung ornaments and stockings we laughed and wondered what Max would think of the "transformation"; and we started to get excited about the years ahead when he will be decorating alongside us.
The next morning we brought Max down and it was so sweet to watch him discover all the decorations and the tree!
So far, he has been awesome with the tree. When he starts touching ornaments we just say, "Be gentle!" and we're usually good to go! We have gotten nervous about him accidentally squeezing an ornament too hard, though, so many of the ornaments on the bottom third of the tree have started to make their way a little higher.
Our two favorite things are when he points to a family picture ornament from daycare (the picture is from last December when he was a tiny guy) and says, "Daddy! Baby!". Occasionally "Mama!" will make it in there too. ;-) We have some fake poinsettia flowers tucked in the tree and he likes to take them off and brings it to us with a big smile as if to say, "Look what I found for you!" It's so sweet.
