August 2018

Max and I enjoyed a visit to a local community festival - free popsicles!

Sporting a freebie fire hat, sunglasses, and badge. :-)

The balloon artist made some of the coolest balloon animals I'd ever seen! Max picked a fishing rod with a fish. Other kids had a monkey that sat on your shoulder, butterfly wings, and other creatures.

Family pizza night at the park celebrating a great first week of kindergarten!

A weekend with our friends. Meet the Green Family! ;-)

Kids table!

Warming up after a chilly swim

The kids had a blast playing with Abby (and giving her lots of doggy treats!).

Saskia took a photo of the grown-ups! (and little photo-bomber Natalia in the back!)

Walter snuck a photo of Max and I enjoying some quiet time on the swing!

Earlier this month we had a belated birthday celebration for Ben at the Winiarski's house.

Max had his first baseball practice of the season. We found out his team is the Atlanta Braves! (Max is in the red shirt on the left, they are about to do a "Go Braves" with Head Coach Nick in this photo.)

First Day of Kindergarten!

We have a KINDERGARTENER!! To say Max is excited about kindergarten would be an understatement. He's totally pumped and says he gives it "a billion trillion quadrillion thumbs up!"

Here's a few shots from the first day of school earlier this week:

The first day of school was exhausting.... :-)

Just for fun, here's some photos from past starts to the school year!

July 2018

Here's a glimpse of our adventures in July! Photos are out of order.

Saskia, Natalia, and Steve came over to play on the 4th of July!

Max read a book about gorillas and toward the end it talked about them being endangered, etc. He seemed passionate about that not being a good thing so we did some research on the computer together and he wrote letters to the Dian Fossey Gorilla Foundation and the Jane Goodall Foundation. A little advocate in the making!

Medieval week at camp! One day all the kids got to dress up as knights or princesses. We got crafty with aluminum foil. ;-)

Max received a letter from the CEO and a care package from the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund!

A tiny lizard found its way in to our house and we let Max keep it in a jar in his bedroom for a night. He named it "Cutie Pie" and later changed its name to "King of the Lizards." He had fun letting it crawl around before we let it go in the woods!

Celebrating Ahaan's birthday at a children's museum!

These sweet kids have been great buddies over the past few years. The three on the left (Abigail, Ahaan, and Dhruv) headed to public school for kindergarten this fall (Yajur, to Max's right, is still at Monstessori). All the parents were tearing up a little when we said goodbye!

Fourth of July parade in Cumming!

Visit to Hiawassee

Ben took us on a "tour" of some of his grandparents sites before we went to the birthday party at the children's museum (it's all in the Gainesville area).

Visiting the cemetery where Grandmommy and Poppy (Ben's maternal grandparents) and Peggy's twin sister Palley are buried.

Check out the posture -- like father like son! Hahaha

Visiting the cemetery where Grandmommy and Granddaddy Lilly (Ben's paternal grandparents as well as several other Lilly's) are buried.

The house where Grandmommy grew up!

Visiting a monument in the square in Downtown Gainesville. Ben said his grandfather proposed to his grandmother here, and his parents got engaged in an airplane as it flew over this location!

Max kept calling July 3rd "Independence Day Eve" and he decided he needed to look "fancy" for school and wanted to take a picture with his flags. He's one patriotic kid!

Waiting for the parade to start! (Ear plugs because they have very, very loud steam engines in the parade)
