Our big boy is SEVEN years old! With that, our September was jam-packed with fun celebrating with family and friends. Thank you to everyone who called, texted, emailed, and spent time with Max! He most certainly "felt the love." :-)
Birthday celebration for John, Max, and Valerie in Hiawassee! Three birthdays always make it extra fun!
First Cub Scout meeting!
Party with our friends!
Cake time!
Pinkies up!
"Who is ready for cake?!"
Fun with Walter
The kids had a blast playing with Max's robot!
Ta - da!
Natalia (who is three) was trying to figure out how to use the toy nerf gun. Max sat patiently with her for a long time to teach her how to use it and make the foam bullets go a long distance. It was so sweet!
Snack time! (For anyone concerned about the graham cracker and single grape on the kids' plates, please know they ate a big lunch, cupcakes, and a bunch more grapes, too!)
The consignment store put out the Halloween costumes, so we headed over right after "release day" so Max would have a big selection. We ended up buying two costumes -- the one Max will actually wear this year (pictures next month!) and this hot dog costume. Because, really... how can you pass up a hot dog costume. Haha
Dad even got in on the fun! Hahaha
Birthday boy! We had a big breakfast before school on Max's actual birthday. Funny story -- I'd originally put the candle in Max's blueberry muffin, but the muffin was so hot the candle melted all over the place! Had to cut all the wax out of the muffin, and got a new candle that we stuck in scrambled eggs instead.
Continuing our tradition of taking a photo at 7:04AM on Max's birthday -- the actual moment he was born!
I picked Max up during carpool (instead of after school care) on his birthday and we stopped by the library. They have a "Pianos for Peace" piano right now and Max sat down to play for a few minutes. Doesn't it look cool? (Fun fact: Max's Uncle Craig's band is painted on a piano for the same program in Minnesota! Click here for photos.)
Birthday ice cream!
Turning seven is exhausting...
Birthday presents from Mom and Dad and from out-of-state family who mailed presents.
Showing off his new Darth Vadar shirt, Hedbandz game, and gorilla slippers from Mom and Dad!
... and then he followed a treasure map (at his request) to his big present... a new (bigger) bike!
Needless to say, he loves it! :-)
Playing Headbandz before bed.
We gave Max the option of having a party at the park with school friends or a family day at Stone Mountain Park. He chose Stone Mountain, so we packed up and headed down for a day and evening of fun!
First up, a ropes course with mom... 12 feet off the ground!
...and then up to 24 feet off the ground with Dad! Max wasn't scared whatsoever, and we even went back and did it a second time just before the park closed for the day.
First time playing mini golf!
Stone Mountain, itself!
Riding the Sky Bus to the top!
Made it to the top!
Toward the end of the day, Max and Ben changed in to bathing suits and played in this water area. Ben came and sat with me after a little bit, but Max kept running up and down, up and down for a long time!
Train ride around the base of the mountain!
Waiting for it to get dark so we could watch the laser show!
We met Grammie, Erich, and Heather for a visit to Kennesaw Mountain Battlefield Park to celebrate Max's birthday. We visited the museum / visitor's center and hiked to the top of the mountain (hot, but great views!). When we got home we realized this was the only photo we took. Oops!
Studying rocks and gems!
Max is too old for our church's baseball league, so we've moved to Forsyth County baseball! It's a bit of a "step-up" in that the kids play actual positions (versus just being generally spread out on the field), they do strikes and outs, have a real umpire, etc. As we understand it, the fall baseball season is more "for fun," and the spring season is pretty serious.
The kids rotate positions and there is one set of catcher gear. It's huge on the majority of the kids, and Max is the smallest on the team and it was so funny how big it was on him!
Max's friend Sridattha (pronounced "Shree-dah-tah") turned eight years old and had a party at the bowling alley / arcade. The kids had a blast! (There were a lot more kids than shown in this photo. :-))
We were able to snag some $10 tickets to the Braves game (and a free one for Max!) so we took Max to his first major league baseball game at Sun Trust Park!
Batter up!
Cool Apollo statue at the ballpark.
