First Date

Ben and I went on our first date! Well, first date since our sweet baby Max was born. We left him with Grandmommy and Granddaddy and probably gave them far too many instructions before we left-- especially when you consider the fact that they've successfully raised three children and four grandchildren. ;-)

Our first stop was lunch where we enjoyed delicious soup and fancy sandwiches while daydreaming about the future and chatting about being parents thus far. A woman brought in a baby who was a little older than Max about halfway through our meal, and both of us stared at him and immediately struck up conversation about our own sweet little guy. Although we're completely biased, we thought Max was cuter. Haha!

After lunch we headed out to find a little park and waterfall nearby, and happened upon a field of llamas. You don't see that everyday!

It was fun to stroll hand-in-hand through the woods, giggle, and be silly with just the two of us.

We got a little worried when we realized we were far enough out that we didn't have any cell phone reception, so we decided to head out just in case there was an emergency with the baby and Ben and Peggy were trying to reach us. Once we had reception again and saw that we didn't have any voicemails or missed calls we went in search of hot chocolate to round out our date.

Because we were the only people in the cafe/bookstore where we got hot chocolate, we ended up chatting with the owner instead of each other. Oh, well! That's small town life for you. At least the hot chocolate was good!

We are glad we felt comfortable being away from the baby for the first time, and really loved spending some time with just the two of us. When we got back to the house, though, we couldn't wait to scoop up and snuggle our sweet baby boy. He's so special and has made our marriage stronger already!
