September 2021

September was a fun month celebrating our favorite NINE year old!

Max chose a "family adventure" instead of a friend party this year, and we did obstacle courses and ziplining! It was a really fun day for all of us.

Celebrating a joint birthday party with John in Hiawassee!

We went on a treasure hunt and found a box of buried treasure!

Rawr!

Mommy up high on an obstacle! (The zig zag boards are not attached to each other and lurched back and forth as you walk across -- terrifying but fun. Haha)

Max sat and pet Charlie for a really, really long time one morning in Hiawassee because we were the first ones up and Max was concerned Charlie would bark and wake people up if he walked away. So sweet!

Occasionally we get photos from Max's class at school. He's chosen a seat next to his teacher (Ms. Kaur) quite a few times, and as a third year student has even been able to help present the lesson on occasion!

Presenting his gray wolf research project!

The school put on a snow cone day for the kids one Friday.

Our annual family photo of the exact moment Max turned nine years old!

Reading the scroll with the agenda for his birthday.

Max came downstairs to find lots of fun decorations!

Max wanted Chickfila for his birthday lunch and we'd planned to pick it up and have a picnic at the ziplining place. Unfortunately all the picnic tables were reserved, so we walked around and ended up finding a neat little courtyard at the environmental center next door.

After ziplining we went out for ice cream!

At the end of September (unrelated to his birthday), Max had his first sleepover with his friend Connor! I picked both boys up at school and we came back to the house for pizza, playtime, and a movie before bed.

We made popcorn for the movie and Connor had never seen an air popper before -- as you can see, he loved it! :-)

The boys started out in sleeping bags, but after an hour of thrashing around and deciding the sleeping bags were too hot and uncomfortable they relocated to Max's double bed. They stayed up until 10:30PM!! (Bedtime for both is usually closer to 8:00/8:30!)

The boys played so nicely the next morning, that Connor stayed through lunch. They did sticker pages (that Connor brought), played with toys, played a video game, and played outside. A super fun time!

This picture cracked me up... he looks like a teenager with the watch and using a calculator to check his math homework.
