Gosh....saying "30 Weeks" makes the pregnancy sound so close to the end! It's hard to believe we only have ten weeks (give or take) until we get to meet our sweet baby boy. The midwife appointment went well this week and we had our final ultrasound of the pregnancy (unless they have a concern about something in which case we'll get another... but hopefully this is the last one). All of my "stats" are on track and they said everything looked perfect with the baby on the ultrasound. They estimate that he weighs about three pounds and three ounces right now! During the ultrasound we could see his mouth opening and closing which was pretty neat. He kept putting his hands up to his face and the ultrasound tech said he has long fingers! Guess he takes after his Mom and Dad! Just for fun we also asked the ultrasound tech if she could "double check" that we do have a little boy growing inside me... we do. :-) From now on I'll be going in for a check-up about every two weeks. When we get into the last few weeks I believe I go on a weekly basis, and if I go past my due date I will have to go twice a week until the baby is born (the midwife said that depending on circumstances they will let a mother go 10 -14 days past her due date).

The two slightly curved white lines near the center where the word "Lips" is typed, are his lips. If you look to the right of his lips you'll see two other white lines. These are fingers! He's holding up his index and middle fingers. The middle finger is below his nose and the index finger is near the bridge of his nose. Sort of like a peace sign to the face. :-)
Here's what the baby is up to this week:
Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and she weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as she gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. Her eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after she's born, she'll keep her eyes closed for a good part of the day. When she does open them, she'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means she can only make out objects a few inches from her face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)
